Activities
A full programme of activities is arranged each week, including regular drives into the town for shopping, frequent recitals by local musicians for an afternoon of sing-a-long, crafts, games and outings all make for a varied life at Pinhay!
Weather permitting, we enjoy going out in the mini-bus to garden fetes, flower shows or simply a cream-tea in a country garden. We also take, with the help of staff, often in their own time, groups of residents to the little theatre in Lyme Regis or Seaton for musical shows and plays etc.
Our staff have learned that residents need to be cared for socially as well as physically and therefore part of their job description emphasises the need for social activities and stimulation. In conjunction with our Activities organizers, staff are encouraged to spend as much time as possible with the residents, talking, playing cards or games, writing letters, doing quizzes and taking part in Reminiscence Therapy.
We do however recognise that no-one can compel people to get on with each other especially when likes and dislikes have matured over the years. Gentle activities and joint outings provide opportunities for relationships to develop but this is essentially something for residents themselves to choose.
